Overview of the Project
Mad Pumpkins GameStudio is currently seeking a Gameplay Programmer to join the production of Movierooms, an independent business management game set in the world of cinema. This role offers an exciting opportunity to become part of a young, dynamic, and international team dedicated to developing an innovative game experience. A pre-alpha version of Movierooms already exists, featuring several core mechanics; the next goal is to expand its systems, levels, and gameplay depth and fixing bugs after the launch of Early Access phase. You will collaborate closely with our French Technical Director, Portuguese dev and the Italian Mad Pumpkins team, contributing both technical and creative insight to help shape the player experience.
Responsibilities:

- Design, implement, and optimize gameplay systems and tools in Unity (C#).

- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code, ensuring performance and stability across platforms.

- Collaborate with designers, artists, and producers to bring features from concept to final implementation.

- Actively participate in team meetings and sprint reviews (Agile methodology, 2-week sprints).

- Manage your own tasks through Notion, ensuring visibility, clarity, and regular updates to the team.

- Communicate openly, react quickly to potential issues, and keep teammates informed to ensure smooth development.

- Participate in training sessions (5–6 hours) to B2B / exchange knowledge and best practices.
Requirements:

- 5+ years of experience programming in C#, with strong understanding of software architecture, 3D math, and geometry.

- 3+ years of experience with Unity, including launching at least one project (Steam, itch.io, or equivalent).

- Solid understanding of AI systems, gameplay logic, and real-time performance optimization.

- Professional working proficiency in English (spoken and written).

- Excellent team spirit and communication skills.

- Strong sense of self-organization and ability to manage priorities independently in a remote environment.

- Comfortable using Git and version control best practices.

- Attention to detail, curiosity, and methodical problem-solving attitude.
Bonus Points:

- Experience with artistic tools (Blender, Maya, Photoshop, etc.).

- Experience drafting or updating GDDs and technical documentation in Notion.

- Interest in representing the project at international events, confidently pitching the game and sharing its vision with passion.
